If you’re searching for an Inland Empire birth photographer or wondering, “What is it like to hire a birth photographer near me?” — you’re in the right place.
Birth is one of the most powerful and emotional moments in life. The person you invite to document it should not only be skilled behind the camera but also calm, respectful, and supportive during such a personal experience.
As a professional birth photographer and certified doula based in Yucaipa, CA, I serve families across the Inland Empire, including Redlands, Riverside, San Bernardino, and surrounding Southern California areas. My goal is to tell your birth story with honesty, emotion, and artistry. Here’s exactly what you can expect when you work with me, from the very first message to the moment you receive your final images.

1. The Inquiry
It all begins when you reach out—whether that’s through my website contact form, email, social media, or even a recommendation from a friend. You’ll share a bit about you - your estimated due date, birth location, and any vision you have for your photos.
I’ll respond within 24 hours with my availability, detailed pricing, and a guide that walks you through the process. If we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule a consultation so you can ask all your questions and make sure you feel comfortable inviting me into your birth space.
2. The Consultation
This is our time to connect. We’ll meet in person, on Zoom, or over the phone to discuss:
- Your birth preferences and support team
- The style of images you’re drawn to (documentary, detail-focused, storytelling, etc.)
- Comfort levels with different moments being photographed
- Logistics like lighting, space, and backup plans
This conversation also helps me learn about you and your story—so I can capture your birth in a way that feels personal and authentic.
3. Booking & Retainer
Once you decide to move forward, I’ll send over a photography agreement and invoice. A signed contract and retainer officially secure your spot on my calendar.
Because births are unpredictable, I only take a limited number of clients each month to ensure I can be fully on call for you.
4. On-Call Period
Starting at 38 weeks, I’m officially “on call” for you—meaning my phone is charged, my gear is ready, and my bag is packed. I’m prepared to leave at a moment’s notice when labor begins, whether that’s 2 PM or 2 AM.
You’ll keep me updated with any early signs of labor so I can be ready to head your way when things progress.
5. Arrival at Your Birth
Once you’re in active labor (usually around 5–6 cm, or when contractions are consistently strong and close together), I’ll join you at your birth location.
From there, I quietly document your experience—your partner’s hand in yours, the midwife’s encouraging smile, the strength in your expression, and the moment your baby is placed in your arms. My goal is to blend into the background so your focus stays on your birth, not on my camera.
6. The First Hours
I’ll typically stay for 1–2 hours after the birth to capture those first precious moments—skin-to-skin snuggles, breastfeeding, meeting siblings, tiny toes and fingers, and the joy in the room.
If you’ve added a Fresh 48 Session, we’ll also schedule a time within the first two days postpartum for additional lifestyle images in your home or hospital.
7. Editing & Image Delivery
Within 24–48 hours, you’ll receive a small “first look” sneak peek—perfect for announcing your baby’s arrival.
Your full gallery will be carefully culled and edited to reflect the emotion and beauty of your story. This process typically takes 3–4 weeks. You’ll receive your images in a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints or albums.
8. Preserving Your Story
Birth photography isn’t just about having digital files—it’s about creating a tangible legacy. Many families choose to add a custom birth album or framed prints so these moments can be relived for generations.
Final Thoughts
Choosing a birth photographer means trusting someone with one of your most important life experiences. My promise is to approach your story with compassion, respect, and artistry—so you can look back on these images and feel the strength, love, and magic of the day you met your baby.
